Cheese is it? Got any Chutney!


I once considered what was my favourite  chutney and I came to conclusion that it didn’t matter as long as I had some…  This is NOT my recipes but one I have used and enjoyed. On here for Bev because I’m not technology savvy enough to get them on Twitter 😀

PLUM CHUTNEY

60g Butter

2 cloves garlic crushed

2tsp grated ginger

2tsp ground cumin

1tsp ground cardamon

2tsp yellow mustard seeds

2 medium onions (300g) sliced

1kg plums pitted and chopped

400g apples peeled and chopped

400g brown sugar

250g red wine

500ml white vinegar

Heat the butter in a large saucepan, add garlic and ginger, cook 1 min. stir in spices, seeds and onions; cook until the onion is soft. Stir in remaining ingredients, stir over heat until the sugar is disolved. Bring to the boil; simmer uncovered stirring occasionally  for about 1.5hours or until thick. Pour into hot sterilized jars; seal when cold.

Makes 1.5 litres.
