Escape!

A rare opportunity arose at the weekend, we had a baby sitter for the whole weekend! We were supposed to be going elsewhere but unfortunately had to change our plans.  So took advantage of the situation to have some much needed small person free time together, yes.. just Me ‘n Daddy *gasp!*

So we hot tailed off to Minehead, a lovely little coastal town on the edge of Exmoor for some much needed R,R & S… (That is silence you dirty minded lot!)

We stayed at Marston Lodge Hotel which was, from the second we crossed the threshold, a real pleasure… and I’m a really fussy git when it comes to B&B’s.

The owner was incredibly welcoming, the room was fabulous…

The view was great too…

And breakfast was incredibly fattening delicious. This is not a sponsored post in anyway so, honestly, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Minehead I wouldn’t hesitate to say “stay at Marston Lodge.”

We spent Saturday afternoon at Porlock Weir at the hotel owners recomendation which is a really beautiful and atmospheric harbour village just along the coast from Minehead, my Silent Sunday photograph was taken there, as were these…

Getting away from the smalls doesn’t happen very often but when it does it’s great to find that underneath all the chasing around, nappy changing, sleepless nights, noise and mayhem; you are still the people you once were when you met… If a little older.

I walked from Taunton to Plymouth a few years ago and took in Minehead and Watchet and the dreaded Porlock Hill on route before walking across Exmoor and Dartmoor – I love Minehead……..

Always lovely to hear from you!
